BREC's Baton Rouge Zoo Hosts Name Runoff Contest for Jaguar Cub
EAST BATON ROUGE PARISH — BREC’s Baton Rouge Zoo’s “Name That Jag” contest has entered a new phase. Seti has emerged as the current frontrunner, but Lacumba — a popular name submission suggested by the community — has gained momentum as a strong contender. The zoo is launching a runoff voting contest to settle the final choice.
Initially, a winner was set to be chosen Jan. 1 from the final three name options: Seti, Taiyari, and Soona. However, due to overwhelming support for Lacumba as a write-in submission, the runoff will focus on the top two favorites, Seti and Lacumba.
Supporters can vote by donating $1 per vote through a secure JotForm link. Proceeds from the contest will benefit the Baton Rouge Zoo Foundation, which funds wildlife conservation, education programs, and animal care initiatives.
The runoff will continue through mid-January, providing the community with ample time to show support and contribute to a meaningful cause. The winning name will be announced shortly after the contest concludes.
Make your vote count to help name Baton Rouge’s newest jaguar cub while supporting conservation efforts!
