Available Positions

The Animal Technician performs animal husbandry which includes feeding animals and cleaning animal facilities.

The Zoo Educator works in the Education Office and throughout the Zoo as related to education and educational services.  This requires scheduling educational programs, supervising camps staff and volunteers, presenting educational programs, research and development of educational curriculum, teaching Zoo Camp, animal handling, and composing routine correspondence.  Work involves interaction with other Zoo employees, volunteers, teachers, and the general public.

The Guest Services Associate is responsible for a variety of guest-related activities.  Duties may include assisting and greeting guests; counting guests; collecting and remitting cash; safe and efficient operation of rides; setting up displays, loading, unloading, and stocking merchandise; selling merchandise in gift shops; food service and catering preparation; displaying and selling food to guests; assisting in setting up and breaking down of zoo events and rentals.  Other duties will include maintaining assigned work stations that are aesthetically pleasing and businesslike, which could consist of a ticket office, gift shop, cafes, and surrounding areas.  There is constant direct exposure to the public. Scheduled work hours and assigned areas may vary to meet the needs of Zoo guests. Must be flexible to work some evenings and early morning hours, weekends, and some holidays are required. Limited exposure to some adverse temperature conditions with extended periods of sitting and standing in a small workspace.

The Zoo Educator works in the Education Office and throughout the Zoo as related to education and educational services.  This requires scheduling educational programs, supervising camps staff and volunteers, presenting educational programs, research and development of educational curriculum, teaching Zoo Camp, animal handling, and composing routine correspondence.  Work involves interaction with other Zoo employees, volunteers, teachers, and the general public.

The Custodian performs general cleaning with particular attention to public areas – restrooms, sidewalks, education buildings; refuels and cleans vehicles as needed, replenishes supplies and picks up litter.
