2nd Annual Art for Animals Festival at Baton Rouge Zoo: Calling Artists to Support Wildlife Conservation

BREC’s Baton Rouge Zoo is excited to announce the second annual Art for Animals Festival, a unique event that combines creativity with a commitment to wildlife conservation. The festival will run from Feb. 3 through May 9, 2025, featuring a juried art exhibition celebrating animals and their habitats, with a closing reception and awards ceremony on May 3, 2025.

Artists aged 14 and older are invited to submit their original works for consideration. The festival replaces the previous Annual Photo Contest and Art Gone Wild Contest. Artists who previously participated in these events and meet the qualifications are encouraged to join the Art for Animals Festival.

Call for Artists:

Submissions are open now through Dec. 9, 2024. The exhibition will include paintings, drawings, mixed media, and photography inspired by nature, wildlife, and conservation.

Important Dates:

  • Sept. 9 – Dec. 9, 2024: Open call for artist submissions
  • Dec. 10, 2024 – January 2025: Artist selection
  • Feb. 3 – May 9, 2025: Exhibition on display in the Atrium, located inside the new Zoo entrance
  • May 3, 2025: Closing reception and awards ceremony
  • May 9, 2025: Final day of the exhibition
