Art For Animals Festival at Baton Rouge Zoo: Calling Artists to Support Wildlife Conservation

East Baton Rouge Parish — The Baton Rouge Zoo is excited to announce the upcoming "Art for Animals Festival," a unique and inspiring event that bridges the gap between art, the zoo and wildlife conservation.

Scheduled to take place on November 11th, the festival will bring together artists, animal enthusiasts, conservationists, and the public for a shared purpose: to celebrate creativity while raising awareness about the importance of protecting and preserving endangered animals and their habitats.

The heart of the festival will be an art exhibition, where selected artists will display their works that highlight the beauty and significance of animals and their habitats. This exhibition invites artists from across the region to participate in this opportunity to showcase their creative talents.

Through the power of art, BREC’s Baton Rouge Zoo aims to foster a deeper connection between our visitors and the animals we are dedicated to protecting. This event is not only an opportunity to appreciate exceptional artwork but also a chance to actively participate in the conservation conversation.

Call for Artists!

BREC’s Baton Rouge Zoo invites artists 14 years and older to submit their work to the Baton Rouge Zoo’s Inaugural Art for Animals Exhibition. We are looking for artwork in any style that is inspired by nature, wildlife, zoology, wild animals, conservation, and other similar topics. The artwork must be an original work of art, not from a kit or copied from other works of art.

This juried exhibit will replace our Annual Photo Contest and Art Gone Wild contest. Participants who previously entered these events and meet the qualifications are encouraged to participate in the Art for Animals Festival Exhibition.

This collection of art aims to capture the essence of wildlife while promoting conversations about conservation. This call for artists presents an exceptional platform to showcase artistic talents while advocating for the welfare of animals.

Selected artworks for the Art for Animals Festival Exhibition will be on display at the Zoo from November 11-16. Through this new event, we seek to reach the rising arts community of Baton Rouge and inspire them to support our mission: To connect people with wildlife and the natural world through exceptionally engaging experiences and conservation efforts that impact our world both locally and globally. We are excited about the level of professionalism and creativity this new event can bring to our zoo's culture.

The deadline to submit art for consideration is October 1, 2023. Interested artists can find more information on how to submit their works by visiting brzoo.org/news/call-for-artists.
