BREC’s Baton Rouge Zoo invites you to the second annual Art for Animals Festival, a vibrant celebration of creativity and conservation. Running from February 3 through May 9, 2025, this event features a juried art exhibition, festival, and awards ceremony, all designed to connect the community with wildlife through the lens of art.

Event Highlights

  • Art Exhibition: February 3 – May 9, 2025
    Explore works by talented local artists displayed in the Atrium of the Zoo’s new entrance, open Monday - Friday, 9:30 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. The exhibition showcases artwork inspired by wildlife and conservation themes.
  • Festival Day & Closing Reception: May 3, 2025 - Enjoy a fun-filled day with interactive art, a caricature artist, face painting, character meet & greets, and more! Details in the link!

Call for Artists (Now Closed)
Artists ages 14 and older submitted their creative works for consideration from September to December 2024. The juried selection process highlighted originality, technical skill, and alignment with the conservation theme. Selected pieces will be displayed throughout the festival.

Awards & Sales

  • Artists can sell their work, with 20% of proceeds supporting conservation programs such as Bowling for Rhinos, Bat Conservation International, and the Coalition to Restore Coastal Louisiana.
  • Awards will be presented for the Director's Choice, People's Choice, and Jurors' Selection (1st, 2nd, and 3rd Place)
