March 22, 2023

BREC’s Baton Rouge Zoo will host Zippity Zoo Fest on Saturday, April 1st and Sunday, April 2nd. This spring event celebrates the Zoo’s Birthday and is the kickoff of Springtime at the Zoo. This year, the Zoo will be turning 53 years old.

Admission gates will be open from 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Zoo grounds close at 6 p.m. Regular Zoo admission applies & free for members. For more information on Zippity Zoo Fest 2023, please click here.

“Zippity Zoo Fest is one event that’s particularly near and dear to the Zoo,” said Jim Fleshman, Zoo Director. “Not only does it provide the perfect atmosphere for children and their parents to shake off their cabin fever, but it allows all of us to celebrate the many years of connecting people with wildlife and wild places since the Zoo opened on Easter Sunday 1970.”

Zippity Zoo Fest 2023 will include:

Activities

A Children’s Village will feature inflatables, food trucks and more for families to enjoy throughout their day at the Zoo.

Entertainment

Enjoy the talents of community groups from across the area. We will even have some characters stop by throughout the weekend some social media worthy photo opportunities!

Ambassador Animal Presentations

You'll get to meet some of our education department's animal ambassadors and learn a little about each species from our Education Department.

Keeper Chats & Animal Enrichments

Hear from our Zoo Keepers, ask questions and learn how we care for our animals daily.
