BREC’s Baton Rouge Zoo announces highlights for Boo at the Zoo 2025 presented by Hancock Whitney

EAST BATON ROUGE PARISH – BREC’s Baton Rouge Zoo will host its annual Boo at the Zoo celebration Oct. 18–19 and 25–26, featuring festive activities, live entertainment and seasonal treats.

“Boo at the Zoo is one of our longest-standing traditions, bringing the community together for a safe and fun way to celebrate Halloween,” said Jim Fleshman, Zoo Director. “This year, we’ve added exciting new features while continuing the favorites families look forward to every fall.”

Highlights of Boo at the Zoo 2025 include:

  • Festive photo opportunities: Halloween- and fall-themed hand-painted displays throughout the zoo.
  • Princess character meet-and-greets: Daily fairytale visits with favorite princesses.
  • Face painting: Halloween-themed designs offered daily.
  • Entertainment in the Plaza: Featuring The Dinosaur Experience and a magic show.
  • Animal enrichments: Watch zoo animals enjoy Halloween-themed treats and activities.
  • Pumpkin patch and treats: Children 12 and under receive a mini pumpkin and treat bag (no outside candy buckets permitted).
  • Costume extravaganza: Guests are encouraged to wear costumes and tag the zoo for a chance to be featured.

New this year: The Children’s Village, located near the zoo’s old entrance, will feature free activities including face painting, a pumpkin patch and a haunted maze.

Daily schedule includes:

  • Petite Princess characters (different characters daily, check website for details): Noon–2 p.m.
  • The Dinosaur Experience: 10 a.m., Noon, 2 p.m.
  • Magic show: 11 a.m., 1 p.m., 3 p.m.
  • Ambassador animal shows: 9:30 a.m.–5 p.m.
  • Face painting: All day (with breaks)
  • Haunted maze: All day
  • Pumpkin patch: All day

Food and refreshments will be available for purchase at the Flamingo Café and the Boo at the Zoo food court. Vendors include:

  • Sweet Honey Lemony (lemonade)
  • Dr. Flavas (Louisiana kitchen)
  • Kona Ice (snowballs)
  • Rice and Roux (jambalaya, gumbo, boudin)
  • The Funnel Factory (funnel cakes)
  • E’s Exotic Snowballs (cotton candy)
  • Hungry Howie’s Pizza

Zoo members are encouraged to renew memberships online or by mail before the event.

  • Time: 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. (last entry at 4 p.m.)
  • Location: 3000 Zoo Circle (via 13350 Highway 19). Enter through Greenwood Park.

Admission: Regular zoo admission rates apply. Members are admitted free. Zoo members are encouraged to renew memberships online or by mail before the event.
