Photo submissions qualified for one of six categories including: Children, ages 12 and younger; Junior, ages 13 to 18; Novice Adult, for beginners and nonprofessionals; Advanced Adult, for those with considerable experience to professional; Fun Photo, photos of family and friends at the Zoo; and Kenya, for those who traveled with Friends of the Baton Rouge Zoo to Kenya in fall of 2013. Voting for "Fan Favorite" opened to the public on The Advocate's website on March 24, 2014 and closed March 26, 2014.
